The topic for this week’s Illustration Friday is “Open”.
Hmm.. A very vague topic, which I interpreted in my own little way.
(It’s a bit feminine, but I hope my art work speaks for itself) It’s a long explanation, so I’m going to leave it up to you to interpret it :)
Do you like food as much as I do? I rounded up three of my favorite foods of all time and made comps about how they make me feel. I love saturated color, which was a perfect combination to the organic feeling of the images. (In order: Indian Food,Sushi and Dark Chocolate) Enjoy! (I submitted these to www.ideafixa.com)
I made some sample logos with our team Product Development in mind. These are still works in progress. I was thinking of something unconventional, like reinventing the way we perceive a box - toying with the idea that we have so much more to offer than what meets the eye. The police badge idea came from the notion that Product Development involves a lot of protection, a sleek rendition of how possibilities are limitless - we create, approve and implement :) Lookie:
I made a web graphic comp - inspired by Hypnoteis. I hope I didn’t really copy their style, I just wanted something dark, a bit spunky, and existential. I think it would make a wonderful desktop background, but I forgot to set the comp to 1024×768 pixels. It’s around 600+ in height, so I suppose its only use is visual enjoyment. comments, critiques welcome :)
*picked out helvetica nueue and texture brushes, stock photo converted from SXC.hu. Hope everyone enjoys the visuals :)
****I edited this card design already.Special thanks to everyone who contributed comments! Thanks to Gary who gave a lot of input on this as well. I really appreciate comments since they really do help in developing design skills :)****
I wanted a crisp looking calling card which made use of my favorite type face - Helvetica, as well as incorporating the themes found in my folio. I will be switching Wordpress themes soon, Hopefully I can still incorporate the black-gothic border theme I’ve grown to love so much. I also like snippets of pink in between, but since I’m dealing with a tangible medium here (like Print) I opted to stray away from the Pink elements. What do you think?
Edited: Now I have a version 2!
* I started working on my version 2 today. I think simplicity works well. Thanks and cheers to all of the constructive comments in fine tuning this calling card (Theres so much to take into consideration, and I believe that simplicity is one of the priorities I want to make in this card) I edited the following:
